Nieuwe Kerk
The Dutch royal family's final resting place — and a 109-meter tower you can climb.
The New Church of Delft holds the royal crypt of the House of Orange-Nassau, including William the Silent. Climb 376 steps for the best view in town.
Construction began in 1396; the tower (109 m) is the second tallest in the Netherlands. Inside is the mausoleum of William the Silent (assassinated 1584), designed by Hendrick de Keyser. Every Dutch monarch since has been buried in the royal crypt beneath the choir. The tower carillon has 48 bells. Climb is 376 steps; on a clear day you see The Hague, Rotterdam and Scheveningen.
